Hi folks. I'm trying to find a meaningful activity to do regularly with my teenage daughter, something that gets us off our phones and actually talking. She's artistic and mentioned she'd love to try making things out of clay. I think a pottery class together could be a great bonding thing for us. Are there studios in LA that welcome teenagers alongside adults and are good for beginners? Neither of us has any experience. Would really appreciate suggestions for a place that's relaxed and not overly serious about it.

Hi. What a lovely idea, doing pottery with your daughter will give you both something to look forward to together. Check out the pottery classes in Los Angeles at Pottery classes Los Angeles, they run group and individual classes daily for kids, teenagers and adults, so you and your daughter can absolutely do it side by side. It's very beginner-friendly, no experience needed and no long-term commitment. In a two-hour session you each make a piece or two on the wheel and take them home after firing. Tip: book online for an afternoon or evening slot that works around school, and consider the pottery plus painting class if she's artistic, you both get to decorate your own pieces, which teens tend to love.
