My Cadillac Escalade AC stopped cold air suddenly help
-
I am honestly so frustrated right now and I need to know if anyone else with a Cadillac has gone through something similar. I own a 2015 Escalade and the air conditioning has always been a beast, like ice cold even when its 50 degrees outside. But three days ago, I was driving back from Dubai to Sharjah in the afternoon and suddenly the air started getting warmer and warmer. Within five minutes, it was just blowing normal air, not hot but definitely not cold either. I turned the AC off for a few minutes and turned it back on, but nothing changed. I checked if maybe I accidentally pressed some button, but everything looked normal. The compressor seems to be turning on because I hear a click and the engine rpm changes slightly when I press the AC button. I looked under the hood and didnt see any obvious leaks or broken belts. A friend told me it could be the compressor clutch failing or maybe the system lost all its refrigerant suddenly due to a big leak. But wouldnt I see oily residue somewhere if there was a big leak? I dont have any tools to check pressures myself. I called a couple of garages near my area and they said they work on American cars but honestly their answers sounded very vague. One guy said it could be the expansion valve, another said maybe the evaporator temperature sensor is lying to the computer. I dont want to just throw parts at this problem because I know Cadillac parts are not cheap. I started searching online for a proper specialist and found a Sharjah Cadillac AC Repair Trusted Workshop that mentions they have experience with the HVAC systems on American SUVs. Before I tow my car there, I want to hear from other Cadillac owners. Has your AC ever just stopped blowing cold suddenly like a switch was flipped? What was the actual cause in your case? Was it something simple like a blown fuse or a relay, or did it end up being an expensive compressor replacement? Also, could this be related to the fact that I rarely use the AC during winter? I read somewhere that the seals can dry out if the system is not run regularly, and then when summer comes, the refrigerant escapes. Does that sound possible? I really need my AC working again because driving an Escalade without AC in Sharjah summer is basically torture. The car is huge and takes forever to cool down even when the AC works properly. Please share your experiences and what you paid to fix it so I know what to expect. Thanks a lot.
