How to Install Jenny Mod in Minecraft: Step by Step Guide

I've been trying to figure out how to install Jenny Mod in Minecraft but I'm running into some issues.
I found a really helpful guide at downloadjennymod.com/how-to-install-jenny-mod/ that walks through the basic steps, but I'm still a bit confused about a few things.
Do I need Forge installed first before adding the mod file, or does it work with Fabric as well? Also, which Minecraft version is best supported? I've tried dropping the .jar file into the mods folder but the mod doesn't show up in-game.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
