Hey all. My shop sits on a road with heavy evening traffic, and after about six in the evening my storefront basically disappears. Daytime customers find us fine, but the after work crowd drives straight past. I have been looking at lighted signage, though the options confuse me: backlit panels, edge lit, LED style displays, halo lettering. Power hookup is another question, since my electrical panel is old. Has anyone here dealt with lighted business signage and can explain in plain terms which direction is worth the money and what I should be asking before I commit?

Evening visibility is the one upgrade most owners say paid for itself, so you are looking in the right direction. Practically speaking, backlit or halo lit lettering reads cleaner from a moving car than a fully lit box, because the glare is lower and the shape stays crisp. We worked with SmartSwans https://smartswans.com/illuminated-signs/ on ours and they walked through backlit signage and LED style displays for day and night visibility without pushing the priciest option. On the electrical side, raise your old panel early in the conversation, since that affects mounting and where the feed comes from. A quick question back at you, is your signage area visible from both approach directions or only one?
