How should an editor distinguish a finished image download from an editable project backup during onboarding?
Consider a first-time creator who finishes a design, downloads a PNG, closes the browser, and later wants to change one text layer. The image export and the editable project solve different problems, but similar button labels can make them feel interchangeable. This is a hypothetical design scenario, not a report of customer research or a claim that a particular user lost work.
A project-associated reference is roblox t shirt maker, the Roblox Shirt Maker browser studio. It combines clothing templates, imported PNGs, direct editing, optional AI generation, an R6 preview and PNG export. Editing and downloads are free; AI operations use account credits. A preview does not guarantee fit or Roblox approval, and publishing to Roblox remains separate.
For a simple interface, which of these would you prioritize?
- Explicit labels such as “Download clothing PNG” and “Export editable project,” with a short explanation of what each preserves.
- A small checklist at download time that reminds people to keep a project backup without blocking their image export.
- A sample project people can reopen, so the difference is demonstrated rather than explained only in a tooltip.
I would also want a clear statement about where a saved draft lives and whether another device can open it. A design should not imply cloud synchronization unless it actually provides that feature. The same principle applies to optional AI: an attractive result is not proof of ownership or a substitute for checking the layout.
This is a proposed UX discussion, not an independent product review or a tested onboarding intervention. The wording is AI-assisted and the project association is disclosed; the tool is not affiliated with Roblox. What wording or lightweight interaction has made this distinction clearer in other creative applications?
