My Family Tree Maker says my tree file is damaged. Is there any way to recover it?

I had the same problem after my PC shut down unexpectedly. I restored my latest backup and used the compact file option. If you have a recent backup, that should be your first step. I also contacted Family Tree Support for guidance, and they helped me recover most of my data.
