How do you spot a fake battery before you pay? Oud Metha question

A strange thing happened to me last month, and I have been thinking about it ever since. I bought a battery for my Honda Accord from a small shop near Oud Metha, paid the full price, and it was dead in five months. When I went back, the shop owner said it was a bad batch and offered a discount on another one. That did not feel right. A friend later told me the battery might not have been original at all, and that some shops sell old stock or copies with new stickers. I had never thought about that. Now I need another battery, and this time I want to be careful. I searched for Genuine Varta 70Ah battery dealers in Oud Metha, but every page said it was the real thing, so I could not tell who to trust. So I am asking people who have been through this. How do you check if a battery is original before you pay? Is there a code on the label or a date sticker that you can look at? Do you ask the shop to show the box, or is that too much? I also wonder about the warranty. Should it be on paper with the shop name and date, and does the maker honour it, or only the shop? Is 70Ah the right size for a mid size sedan like mine, or is that too big? Another thing is the price. If a shop is much cheaper than the others, is that a warning sign?
