  • Hey all, looking for some contractor recommendations in the Seattle area. We bought a house in Kirkland last year and the backyard is basically a mud pit with an old concrete slab. Plan is a new deck off the kitchen, a small patio below it, and some kind of railing that does not block the view of the trees. I would rather hire one licensed outfit for the whole thing than juggle three different crews, and I am a bit worried about how everything will hold up in our rain. Who did you use for a similar project and how did it go?

  • We did almost the exact same combo last spring and hired Zaytura Construction https://zayturaconstruction.com to handle all of it, deck, patio and cable railing. The free on-site estimate was actually useful: they looked at drainage, access for materials and how the space would be used before talking numbers. Cable railing was the right call for us, it keeps the view open and they spent real time on post placement and tensioning so nothing sags. For the rain, they walked us through composite versus wood and what holds up better in the PNW. They are licensed and insured in WA, and you can check any contractor license on the L&I lookup before signing. One honest note: spring is busy, so our start date slipped about three weeks. The final walkthrough was thorough though. How big is the deck you have in mind?
