Modern Car Safety Tech and Maintenance

General Discussion

  • I've been thinking about how much car maintenance has changed with newer vehicles. Cars today have features like blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warnings, parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking that many drivers rely on during everyday trips.

One thing I'm curious about is what happens to these systems after a minor accident or bodywork repair. For example, if a bumper or side mirror is replaced, could it affect the accuracy of the sensors? Would a driver need a Blind Spot Calibration Service afterward, or does it depend on the type of repair and vehicle?

I imagine these features make driving more convenient, but they also add another layer to vehicle maintenance that people might not always consider when budgeting for repairs.

For those who own newer cars, have you ever had to get a driver-assistance system checked or recalibrated? Was it something your repair shop recommended, and was the process straightforward?
