Around history Roberts has built a structure of very detailed plots where factual settings are mixed together with fiction to form a whole new story which is still quite educative and reader friendly. To him the goal is to show history not only as a sequence of events but also as the personal history of individuals, i. e. struggles decisions and ambitions of the people involved and so make it a little more relatable.
